AWANA is a
program for youth starting in preschool (3 years old) to the 6th
grade. AWANA stands for "Approved workman are not ashamed" (2 Tim.
2:15). The goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the gospel
of Christ and train them to serve him. AWANA
club meets Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM at the chapel. Club night
consists of three segments:
Game Time
Handbook Time
Council Time
We also have various events throughout the year such as:
Awana Grand Prix: Compared to the Cub Scout's Pinewood Derby,
this is one of our main events of the year! Each participating
child is given a kit with a block of wood, axels, and wheels, and
with the help of parents and leaders, transforms it into a racing
machine! Clubbers race cars down a sloped racetrack and trophies
are presented to the winners. However, all children receive an
award for participation. Food is also provided at the event.
Awana Games- Kids compete in various athletic events, testing
clubbers athleticism, skill and teamwork. Our club placed first in
our division last year!
Awana Bible Quiz- With a goal of pushing clubbers to know God's
word, Bible Quiz is a challenging event that is a combination of a
spelling bee and "Bible Jeopardy" combined. Prizes are, of course,
awarded to the best quizzers. We had several clubbers win awards in
years past.
